چکیده

Diabatic potential energy surfaces are a convenient starting point for dynamics calculations of photochemical processes, and they can be calculated by the fourfold way direct diabatization scheme. Here we present an improved definition of the reference orbital for applying the fourfold way direct diabatization scheme to ammonia. The improved reference orbital is a geometry-dependent hybrid orbital that allows one to define consistent dominant configuration lists at all geometries important for photodissociation. Using diabatic energies calculated with the new reference orbital and consistent dominant configuration lists, we have refitted the analytical representations of the ground and the first electronically excited singletstate potential energy surfaces and the diabatic coupling surface. Improved functional forms were used to reproduce the experimental dissociation energies and excitation energies, which will be important for subsequent simulations of photochemical dynamics. We find that the lowest-energy conical intersection point is at 5.16 eV, with C2v symmetry.

Direct calculation of coupled diabatic potential-energy surfaces for ammonia and mapping of a four-dimensional conical intersection seam.

We used multiconfiguration quasidegenerate perturbation theory and the fourfold-way direct diabatization scheme to calculate ab initio potential-energy surfaces at 3600 nuclear geometries of NH3. The calculations yield the adiabatic and diabatic potential-energy surfaces for the ground and first electronically excited singlet states and also the diabatic coupling surfaces. The diabatic surfaces...

Full-dimensional ground- and excited-state potential energy surfaces and state couplings for photodissociation of thioanisole.

Analytic potential energy surfaces (PESs) and state couplings of the ground and two lowest singlet excited states of thioanisole (C6H5SCH3) are constructed in a diabatic representation based on electronic structure calculations including dynamic correlation. They cover all 42 internal degrees of freedom and a wide range of geometries including the Franck-Condon region and the reaction valley al...

Can a single-reference approach provide a balanced description of ground and excited states? A comparison of the completely renormalized equation-of-motion coupled-cluster method with multireference quasidegenerate perturbation theory near a conical intersection and along a photodissociation coordinate in ammonia.

We calculated the two lowest electronically adiabatic potential energy surfaces of ammonia in the region of the conical intersection and at a sequence of geometries along which one of the N-H bonds is broken. We employed both a multireference (MR) method and a single-reference (SR) method. The MR calculations are based on multiconfiguration quasidegenerate perturbation theory (MC-QDPT) with a 6...

HN2(2A') electronic manifold. II. Ab initio based double-sheeted DMBE potential energy surface via a global diabatization angle.

A double-sheeted double many-body expansion potential energy surface is reported for the coupled 12A'/22A' states of HN2 by fitting about 6000 ab initio energies. All crossing seams are described to their full extent on the basis of converged results. The lowest adiabatic sheet is fitted with a rmsd of 0.8 kcal mol-1 with respect to the calculated energies up to 100 kcal mol-1 above the absolut...

Coupled diabatic potential energy surfaces for studying the nonadiabatic dynamics at conical intersections in angular resolved photodetachment simulations of OHF--->OHF+e-.

An energy-based method is proposed for the diabatization of the OH(2Pi)+F(2P)-->O(3P)+HF(1Sigma+) reaction. It is demonstrated that the diabatic representation obtained is regularized, i.e., the residual derivative couplings do not present singularities at the conical intersections appearing along the reaction path. This method only requires the knowledge of the 1,2 3A" and 1 3A' eigenvalues an...
